The first thing you should do to make an environmentally friendly dishwasher detergent is washing soda or sodium carbonate. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, pour about half an inch of baking soda into the baking dish. 

Bake the baking soda for one hour. Stir it once or twice. The washing soda is ready when the powder turns to a grainy texture. Remove from the oven and cool it for a few minutes. 

Now, mix ½ cup of Kosher salt, ½ cup of citric acid, and 10 drops of essential oil with the washing soda. Stir this mixture and put it in an airtight container. That’s it! You have your homemade eco-friendly dishwasher detergent.

The Way to Use Homemade Eco-Friendly Dishwasher Detergent 

Take one tablespoon of homemade eco-friendly dishwasher detergent from the airtight container. Use this product with your usual washing method. This product will be more effective when washing dishes with warm water. 

It is okay if you wash the dishes with cold water, but you need to use more detergent. Two or three tablespoons of detergent are enough to clean the dishes with cold water.
